Medium Birds

Do not feed birds avocado, fruit seeds, chocolate, caffeine or alcohol as these can cause serious medical conditions. Avoid sugar and high-frat treats. A well balanced diet consists of specialized pellets making up to 60-70% of diet plus fresh vegetables, fruit and small amount of fortified seeds. As well as clean, fresh, filtered, chlorine-free water, changed daily. Things to remember; fresh food and water should always be visible and available, vegetables and fruits not eaten within a few hours should be discarded. treats should not exceed 10% of total food intake. These small birds acclimate well to average household temperatures; not to drop to 65% or to exceed 85%. If weather is hotter provide shade, and lots of cold fresh water. If weather is too warm provide some extra eat as covering it up and preferably keeping inside the home. These medium birds can be bought 1 by itself if you want to bond with it, or have at least a pair if not. Provide foraging toys, which promotes important mental stimulation. Small hookbills; caique, myers, pionus, red shouldered, red bellied and Senegal parrots, their average adult size is 8 to 12 inches head to tail depending on species. And can live from 15 to 30+ years depending on species. Some species can be quiet and shy while others can be playful and loud. Medium parakeet; Alexandrine, African Ring neck and Indian Ring neck, red rump and lineolate parakeets, golden mantled rosellas and Quaker parakeets. from 9 to 24 inch. Conures; highly intelligent and good natured birds. Those include the maroon belly,, dusky, peach front, and green check conures. 9 to 12 inches head to tail depending on species. Its average lifespan is from 20 to 30+ years with proper care. Conures are social birds that enjoy human interaction, some sleep on their backs on the floor, they like to chew and require a lot of toys. Sun Conures; 10 to 13 inches long head to tail, 20+ years with proper care. There is a color variation called Sunburst Conure, which is mostly yellow in color and slightly larger. They learn tricks yet can be loud and noisy. Cockatiels are small, crested members. They grow from 11 to 14 inches long, up to 25 years with proper care. They are known for mimicking repetitive sounds and noises, bond easly with their human companions. The color gray is the most common, but they come in pearl, white faced, white faced pearl, lutino, pied, albino and many more. The Lory and Lorikeet include the yellow backed, yellow streak, red mollucan, rainbow green nape and swainson blue lories; golden lorikeet. They grow from5 to 13 inches long. And can live from 13 to 22 years with prper care. It is an affectionate bird that enjoys the company of birds in nearby habitats but should be kept alone. Its nectar diet causes runny stools; this is normal and can be messy.
